As a resident of Whidbey Island, I couldn’t agree extra that our ferry system is in deep trouble, and it’s going to be a very long time earlier than new ferries will save us. We want our state and native governments to do some artistic considering to determine the right way to extra effectively transfer individuals to and from our islands with the ferries we’ve.
Our ferries can carry much more individuals than automobiles, and I’d be more than pleased to stroll onto the ferry and use public transportation to get the place I must go. Nevertheless, mainland public transportation choices for Whidbey ferry riders are very restricted for people who find themselves not early morning or late afternoon commuters. The Washington State Division of Transportation manages the ferries however has no management over connecting public transportation, and getting islanders the place they should go isn’t a precedence for mainland transportation companies.
It’s time for our elected officers to attach the dots between the ferry system and the native transportation system to create an built-in system that will get ferry riders the place they should go with out counting on their automobiles.
